Attendance Update
Total attendance at our conference, including both pre-registrations and walk-ins (not including no-shows which we don't track) is 296 (you can download this list below). We've averaged 250 in previous years, and so have exceeded our conference average by a fair margin A list of all registrations can be accessed HERE (alphabetical by last name). Conference Recap
Monday started off strong with vendors packing the hallways as attendees began to flow in. The first session started at 10 am, and the NORA session was standing-room only until we brought in more chairs. The general session on the future of our fuel was packed with 200 attendees, and there was great discussion among the panelists and attendees. Lunch was held in the Marriott's impressive Atrium where awards were handed out to NBB's Donnell Rehagen, and CEMA members Ed and Paula Ryan of Ryan Oil, and Jennifer and Ralph Carlo of Tracey Energy, for their help in getting marketers paid for LIHEAP deliveries. April Salas from Dartmouth's Tuck School of Business gave an impressive, fact-filled keynote presentation, warning the industry of the need to adapt and diversify. Tuesday began cloudy, with steady rain by mid-morning. But that, and late Monday night activities, didn't stymie attendees, who packed sessions, notably the Consumer Focus session on Millennials, Warm Thought's session on Breakthrough Groups, and the Powerhouse session on the winter outlook and propane hedging. Tuesday's lunch featured a very engaging PMAA presentation by Mark McBride, a marketer from Tennessee who is the current PMAA chair. We closed with our ever popular raffle to benefit PMAA. After that it was NEFI's show as the lunch transformed into their annual Membership Meeting. |

Newport Marriott Hotel, Newport, RI The fifth annual conference for petroleum marketers and industry vendors, is organized by the Connecticut Energy Marketers Association, the Massachusetts Energy Marketers Association, the Oilheat Institute of Rhode Island; and sponsored by the New England Fuel Institute. The Southern New England Energy Conference returns to the Newport Marriott, where we were in 2015. The hotel underwent a $35 million renovation, features a sweeping atrium, all-remodeled harbor-view rooms, and a spacious conference center conducive to our annual event for vendor exhibitors and attendees alike. Our conference features 36 education programs, including the NORA Workshops. That's 50% more business sessions than offered at any industry event on the East Coast. Though we're not a trade show, we still offer 33 vendor exhibits, which are excellent networking opportunities for a conference our size. Our Monday Luncheon Keynote, sponsored by NEFI, will be April M. Salas of the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth where she directs the Revers School of Energy. She had previously worked in the White House on energy policy. Our Tuesday Luncheon Keynotes will be Sean Cota, NEFI's CEO, who will discuss regional energy policy issues; and Mark McBride, Chairman of PMAA, who will discuss national energy policy issues.
