CANADIAN GOVERNMENT TO PRESENT AT OUR CONFERENCE

With all the turmoil over tariffs, we've invited the Canadian and Mexican governments, through their U.S. embassies, to present their governments' positions on energy and trade at the Southern New England Energy Conference this year.

While both governments had accepted our invitations last Spring, we just learned this week that Mexico cancelled their appearance.  However, for the Northeast, Canada is the more important trading partner for us.  Canadian distilled petroleum exports to New England and New York are critical to our economy and to petroleum marketers.

See the schedule tab for full program details.  Our conference is first and foremost an education conference, not a tradeshow or expo (though we do have vendors and sponsors who support our conference).  The hallmark of our conference is our education offerings consisting of 12 unique breakout sessions not seen at any other industry conference or expo this year, two unique general sessions, and two keynotes.

NEW: PRE-CONFERENCE RECEPTION

Kickoff Reception on Wednesday
Sep. 24, 5:00 - 7:30 pm, Regatta Place

5 Marina Plaza, Dock S-9, Newport, RI (Goat Island)

Sponsored by Clean Fuels Alliance America & Advanced Fuel Solutions

We’re excited to announce that Clean Fuels and AFS will be hosting an unforgettable welcome reception under the elegant tent at Regatta Place—Newport’s stunning harborside venue where the beauty of the sea meets the energy of innovation.

Set against the backdrop of Newport’s world-famous marina, Regatta Place offers panoramic views of yachts, sailboats, and the sparkling waters of Narragansett Bay. With its open-air ambiance, coastal charm, and relaxed sophistication, this waterfront setting is the perfect place to gather the changemakers, collaborators, and champions of Bioheat® fuel.

The reception will be the kick-off for the Southern New England Energy Conference, creating an ideal moment to come together and celebrate the collective progress we’ve made in transforming the liquid fuels sector. From local communities to national policy conversations, Bioheat fuel continues to gain ground as the clean, practical energy solution for today and tomorrow. This evening is a celebration of that progress—and a rallying point for what comes next.

Paul Nazzaro, a long-time advocate for low-carbon liquid fuels and trusted advisor to Clean Fuels, will offer a few remarks during the evening about the latest industry breakthroughs and the market-building momentum happening across the country. His message will be brief and rooted in one goal: keeping liquid fuels in the energy conversation for decades to come.

This isn’t just another conference event, it’s a moment to recharge, reconnect, and get ready for the exciting conference agenda where we reimagine the future together. We’ll enjoy great food, refreshing drinks, and, most importantly, each other’s company as we continue forging a cleaner, smarter, and more collaborative energy future.

Join us under the tent at Regatta Place for an evening by the water—where innovation meets inspiration, and where Bioheat® fuel stands proudly in the spotlight.

Space is limited. Don’t miss this opportunity to be part of a memorable evening with industry friends and future partners.  YOU CAN REGISTER FOR THE RECEPTION WHEN REGISTERING FOR THE CONFERENCE.

September 25-26, 2025
Newport Marriott Hotel, Newport, RI

25 America's Cup Blvd, Newport, RI

Held since 2012, our multi-state conference returns to the Fall this year for petroleum marketers and industry vendors.  It is co-sponsored by the Connecticut Energy Marketers Association, the Energy Marketers Association of Rhode Island and the Massachusetts Energy Marketers Association and the New York State Energy Coalition.

Our conference represents fuel oil markets in CT, MA, RI and the NY counties of NY City and Long Island. Retailers sell 1.44 billion gallons of fuel oil to 2 million residential customers in this region, representing 41% of all fuel oil sold in the U.S. annually! This conference is dedicated to providing meaningful education to those retailers.  Though we're not a trade show, we still offer up to 28 vendor exhibits, which are excellent networking opportunities for a conference our size.

Please see the Schedule Tab for 2025 session details to give you an idea of what we can offer.  This year will be even better!

NEW: Grand Finale!
Friday Luncheon 12:30 - 1:30 pm

A Dialogue on Electrification and Biofuels

All states in our region are pushing for electrification of the residential heating sector through heat pumps as a means to reach their decarbonization mandates. Our industry has responded by promoting biofuel blends with heating oil, including new equipment technologies to implement this.

So please join us at Friday's closing luncheon for a lively and informative dialogue between these two perspectives on decarbonization. On the government side will be a team from the Rhode Island Office of Energy Resources and the Department of Environmental Management.  Chris Kearns, Rhode Island's Interim Commissioner for the Office of Energy Resources will moderate.

On the industry side will be Charlie Uglietto, president of Cubby Fuels, and Roger Marran, president of Energy Kinetics.  This will not be a "zero-sum" discussion, however, since RI already has a biofuels requirement in place (currently at B20), while many heating fuel dealers also install heat pumps.
Rather this discussion is designed to illuminate the audience on both perspectives of this issue.

This will be a dialogue between passionate advocates of their technologies and policies - never before seen in our industry before, and one we're happy to bring to you!

Rhode Island Government Delegation at Conference
Rhode Island Secretary of Commerce Stefan Pryor will be our special guest for the reception and do a formal welcome to all our members and attendees.   Also expected to attend are a number of RI
 government officials.
